This is a bespoke storage stool handmade by Chissock Woodcraft — a Berkshire-based craftsman and social enterprise specialising in unique furniture from reclaimed and salvaged timber.
Where the other Chissock pieces in this collection use chevron, parquet or vertical slat panels, this one does something entirely its own. The reclaimed timber body is pierced with a pattern of circular cut-out holes in varying sizes — bubbles scattered across horizontal slats, giving the piece a playful, graphic quality that is completely unexpected from a storage stool. The lift-off seat is upholstered in a soft blush pink fabric, sitting cleanly on top and lifting away to reveal the storage inside.
Every Chissock piece evolves from the materials available. This one clearly had ideas of its own.
