Returns & Exchanges Policy

Everything in The Curious Lounge shop has lived a life — and that's precisely what makes it special. From mid-century sideboards to vintage typewriters, each piece carries a little history, and we believe that's something to celebrate rather than hide.

Because all items are pre-loved and sold as seen, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges under any circumstances. All sales are final. We ask that all customers read this policy carefully before making a purchase.

The Pre-Loved Nature of Our Items

Our shop is a carefully curated collection of furniture, curios, plants, and one-of-a-kind pieces that have been part of The Curious Lounge story. These are not new items, and they are not sold as such. Every piece may carry signs of a life well-lived — whether that's a small scuff on a chair leg, a patina on a teak surface, or the natural imperfections of age and use. We consider these characteristics part of their charm and identity, not defects. We do our best to photograph items accurately and to describe any notable wear or condition issues within each listing. If something significant is present, we will say so.

Before You Purchase

We strongly encourage all buyers to do the following before completing a purchase.

Come and see us in person. Many items are available to view, and we will always do our best to accommodate viewings before a purchase is made. Seeing a piece in person is the best way to make sure it's right for you.

Read the full listing. Each product description contains details about the item's condition, dimensions, and any known marks or wear. Please take the time to read these carefully.

Ask us anything. If you have a question about a specific piece — its condition, its history, its dimensions, or whether it suits your space — please get in touch before you buy. By proceeding with a purchase, you are confirming that you have read the listing, understand the pre-loved nature of the item, and accept it in the condition described.

Collection and Delivery

The majority of our items are collection only, available for collection from 8th May from our premises at: The Curious Lounge, 1st Floor, Pinnacle, 20 Tudor Road, Reading, RG1 1NH.

Where delivery has been arranged and paid for as part of your order, please note that delivery does not affect or alter this returns policy. Once an item has left our premises, it is considered sold and accepted. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the means to transport and receive larger items safely. We recommend checking doorway widths, stairwells, and access points in advance.

Cancellations

Once payment has been made, an order cannot be cancelled. If you have a genuine concern or exceptional circumstance, please contact us as soon as possible and we will consider each situation individually at our discretion. We are not obligated to offer cancellations but will always try to be reasonable.

Faulty or Misdescribed Items

This policy does not affect your statutory rights under UK law. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if an item is materially and significantly different from how it was described in its listing — not simply showing expected signs of age or wear — you may be entitled to a remedy. If you believe this applies to your purchase, please contact us within 48 hours of collection or delivery at hello@thecuriouslounge.co.uk, providing a description of the issue and supporting photographs. We will review each case fairly and respond promptly. Please note that general wear, ageing, patina, or minor marks consistent with a pre-loved item do not constitute a fault or misdescription.
